Mother's Day/My 30th

Matt and Daniel always get me flowers for Mother's Day but this year Matt wanted to do something a little bit different.  We had been talking about getting a nice big picture of Christ to go on our wall for a while now and we never decided on one we liked.  Matt saw this one and seeing as it was my first Mother's Day since Nathan, he thought it would be perfect.  I couldn't agree more.
Daniel got me flowers though that he did in Primary.  The vase is a covered and decorated toilet paper roll and the flowers are made from bendy straws, construction paper, and mini marshmellows.  Needless to say I had to keep them away from the cats.  Daniel also made me a necklace at preschool.  He was so excited about it that he made me open it on Thursday when he brought it home.  It was wrapped in tissue paper and when he gave it to me he said "Here's your necklace!"
My birthday fell on mother's day this year, not an uncommon occurance given my birthday.  So usually on those years not much gets done especially for my birthday.  We do a combined thing so we don't have to get people together a bunch of times in a row.  So we just decided that we would celebrate just the 3 of us by going to Medieval Times for dinner the day after my birthday.  Daniel got very creative with his dinner since there weren't any utensils.  He didn't want to pick up his soup dish so he pulled a stir straw from the container and sucked his soup through the straw.  Clever.  He was also very upset that our knight didn't give me a flower.  I reminded him that he gave me pretty flowers the day before so it was ok.
Then the Friday after my birthday, Matt said he had a special date night planned with a babysitter and everything.  We went down to the beach and just chatted for a little bit before heading to dinner.  The beach is kind of one of my favorite places.  It's calm and relaxing.  Then Matt said he forgot something at home so we stopped back and it turns out that he planned a surprise 30th birthday for me.  It was just family but it was a lot of fun and I was really surprised.

I love the birthday poster, very clever! And the picture of Christ with the baby is so awesome.
