A Hui Hou Hoaaloha
On Saturday Matt & I attended the funeral service for a friend of mine, Jenn Callinan. She danced with our halau for longer than I did. A few weeks ago, she felt sick and when they took her to the doctors they said she had mono but when the antibiotics didn't work, they took her in again and she was diagonosed with menengitis, which had already gotten really bad. She ended up in the ICU in a coma and after a few days, her family took her off of life support. All of this happened within about 2 weeks. She was a senior in high school and really involved in her school and community. She was always so sweet, thinking of others, and overall just loved everything she did. At the service, people wrote notes with markers on balloons and we all released them at the same time. Her unlce told stories and we danced for her. It's almost like an entirely different sad when the person who passes on isn't old. But the service was a really nice tribute to her and did what her parents' asked, to celebrate her life. She will definitely be missed by many, many people.

That is so sad. I've heard about how dangerous meningitis can be if it's not detected early. So sad.
